Final Fantasy 7 Fans, Get Ready: Sephiroth and Vincent Are Headlining Their Own Story Expansions

Alright, the rumor mill was right. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is getting story DLC, and it's not just one expansion—it's two. Square Enix announced a Story Expansion Pass via a PlayStation Blog post after the game showed up at State of Play, confirming the pass will cover a pair of story-centered expansions. What those expansions are actually about, though? Still under wraps for now.

If you head over to Steam, though, you'll find the titles already listed. The first one's called Sephiroth and is targeting a launch window between winter 2027 and spring 2028. The second goes by Vincent & the Turks and has been slotted into the same generous time frame. So don't expect a solid release date any time soon.

The good news is you won't necessarily have to buy the two DLC packs individually. Square Enix is bundling the Story Expansion Pass into two new premium editions of Revelation. Both the Premium and the Premium Plus Edition come with the pass, alongside 24 hours of early access to the main game, a batch of in-game consumables, and an accessory. If you spring for the Premium Plus, you'll also grab a digital art book and a mini soundtrack. Nice little bonus if you like that kind of collection stuff.

Honestly, the confirmation doesn't exactly shock me. The expansion pass had already leaked through a third-party Epic Games Store database tool, though at the time there was no telling whether that listing was the real deal or just a well-timed placeholder. Plus, Final Fantasy Remake trilogy lead Naoki Hamaguchi said long before Revelation's official reveal that the third entry might get DLC if there was 'significant demand.' With that kind of public wink, the only real question was when Square would make it official.

Whenever Revelation does arrive, it's coming both physically and digitally on the same day. The promise has been made—let's see if Sephiroth's solo outing actually hits that vague launch window.
